Fix Far Far West No Sound - Unreal Engine 5 Audio Fixes
You are staring at a silent game, and it is incredibly frustrating when Far Far West refuses to play a single note. Unreal Engine 5 is likely struggling to talk to your audio hardware because of a settings mismatch or a missing driver component.
Why this happens
The game engine fails to negotiate high-frequency sample rates above 192kHz. It also frequently conflicts with missing Nvidia HD audio drivers or unused recording devices active in your system.
Steps
-
01Right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar and select Sound Settings.
-
02Click More Sound Settings at the bottom of the window.
-
03Right-click your primary playback device in the Playback tab and select Properties.
-
04Go to the Advanced tab and set the Default Format to 24 bit, 192000 Hz or lower (try 96000 Hz or 48000 Hz).
-
05If sound is still missing, visit nvidia.com/drivers to download the latest GPU installer.
-
06Run the installer, select Custom Install, and ensure the HD Audio Driver checkbox is ticked.
-
07Check the Perform a clean installation box at the bottom before proceeding with the install, then reboot your PC.
-
08If the issue persists, return to the Sound Settings window and click the Recording tab.
-
09Right-click and disable any microphones you are not currently using.
-
10Right-click your active microphone, select Disable, then right-click it again to Re-enable it to refresh the audio routing.
